MICHAEL CREED – LOS ANGELES – 1985

I knew how to get us back to 2035. The subconscious mind will be sent back to its original body, if the body that is being occupied is placed in a state of shock. It’s the only way to exit the body you’ve taken over and go back through time, back to your original body, without a recall from a computer program. I had done it once before. We call it a forced exit.

“So, all you need is ice and a lot of water?” Ariel asked.

“Yes. If the body we’re occupying and have temporarily brought back to life with revitalization of blood flow and re-stimulation of the brain goes into shock, the mind will eject and go back to where it came from, which in our case, would be our bodies back in 2035,” I explained to Ariel.

“So, you’ve done this before?” Ariel continued her questioning with the skeptical eye of a younger sister.

“Once.”

“Did it work?”

“Yeah. Like a charm. Only I was submerged in a bathtub of ice water,” I explained.

“Well, how are we going to do that?” Daria asked.

“We need to find my dad and Sara.”

“But you heard what that creepy reaper guy said, we need to go back to 1944, and help him there,” Ariel chimed in.

“Yeah, I did. But we need his help here in 1985, to get to 1944.”

“So, UCLA it is. How do we get there? We have no transportation?” Daria stated the obvious.

“Well, we got money. Let’s get a cab,” I said as I walked up the block to a cab parked on the side of the road on Hollywood Boulevard.

“Can you take us to UCLA?” I asked the young cab driver, as I peeked inside the open window.

“Sure. Hop in.”

The three of us got in the backseat, and he turned the crank on the machine to charge us for the cab ride.

“How much is it?” Ariel asked.

“Here to Westwood and UCLA is twenty dollars.” He proceeded to pull out and drive down Hollywood Boulevard.

He was a young guy in his late twenties, with dark hair and a slight accent, that sounded like a cross between Russian and some other language.

“So, you are all students at UCLA?” he asked as he peeked from the rearview mirror while driving.

“Yeah, we’re all students,” Daria answered.

“You’re a lucky guy,” he said, glancing back with a smile.

“Why do you say that?”

“Well, you have these two beautiful American girls all to yourself,” he said and kept looking back at Daria and Ariel.

“Oh, yeah, right.”

“I had heard it was like this in America, and California was the land of beautiful American women.”

“Why, thank you. And what’s your name?” Ariel asked, flirting with him slightly.

“I am Vladimir, but you can call me Vlad,” he said to her.

“Wow and where are you from, Vlad?”

“From Moscow. I’m here in America almost one year now.”

“Yeah, you like it in America?”

“Yeah, especially, all the beautiful American women, so beautiful.” He was going on and on about America, and how beautiful the women were, and both Ariel and Daria ate it up.
